The Katsina State Police Command has arrested 26 suspected social miscreants in a major operation targeting criminal hideouts across the state capital.

The command disclosed that the arrests were made during an intelligence-driven raid carried out in the early hours of April 14 at about 2am.

The Officer-in-Charge of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit led a team of operatives in a coordinated sweep of identified “black spots” within the Katsina metropolis.

According to the police, the suspects are linked to various offenCes, including membership in unlawful groups, gang-related activities, and acts constituting a public nuisance.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed in a statement that several items were recovered during the operation.

These include live ammunition, a sword, two cutlasses, a sharp knife, sticks, and a saw. Other items seized include six mobile phones believed to be stolen, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, 500 Exol tablets, and a pair of military camouflage shirts.

The spokesman added that all suspects have been charged to court following the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, praised their professionalism and commitment.

He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain the ongoing crackdown on criminal activities across the state and appealed to residents to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information.
