The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police have arrested four robbery suspects for the attempted kidnapping of two residents in Abuja.

CP Saka Ajao Adewale, who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday, said police operatives from the Life Camp division arrested the suspects at Dape village after a heavy exchange of gunfire.

He said the arrest followed a report lodged by one Hajara Ali at the Life Camp Police Station. 

He said Ali reported that her sister, Comfort Habila, had called her in distress on Wednesday, alleging that she had been abducted by suspected criminals who demanded a ransom of N1,000,000 for her release.

Upon receiving the report, police operatives immediately swung into action, deploying digital and tactical intelligence. 

According to a statement by Josphine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson on Sunday, on Thursday, at about 4:30 a.m., the suspects were arrested at Dape village after a heavy exchange of fire ensued between the police and the criminals.

He said the two abducted victims, whom she named as Comfort Habila and Aliyu Adams, were rescued after the operation.

“Although, Aliyu Adams, who sustained multiple stab wounds inflicted by the suspects, was promptly rushed to Gwarinpa General Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment,” he said. CP Adewale, who gave the names of the suspects as Solomon Tanko, Samuel Audu, Chigozie Joseph, and Emmanuel Chidiebere, said further investigation revealed that they had been involved in a series of one-chance robberies around the Bannex and Kado areas, using a vehicle with tinted windows to deceive unsuspecting passengers.

“In fact, the four suspects revealed that they had picked up and robbed six victims, both men and women, before their arrest,” he said.

The police commissioner said exhibits recovered from the suspects included: 15 international passports, two sharp daggers, two cutlasses, bloodstained documents, four mobile phones, two hammers, and three pens.
