Hearing will continue on September 24, 2019 at an Ikeja, Lagos, magistrate court in a case against a 48-year-old man who the police accused of using forged naira notes to purchase perfumes valued at N50,000.
The police told the court that the accused person, Victor Uma, committed the offence on April 14, 2019 at the Railway By-pass, Pen Cinema, Agege, Lagos.
Police prosecutor, Inspector A. Adegoke, alleged that Uma unlawfully used the forged currencies to purchase 10 pieces of perfumes valued at N50,000, property of one James Umohobolt.
Adegoke said the notes comprised two pieces of N1000, serial numbers 920270 and 920202, and eight pieces of N500 notes, serial numbers 592063, 592064, 592062, 592061, 592061, 592061, 592061 and 592061.
Uma pleaded not guilty to the three-count criminal charge levelled against him.
Chief magistrate A. A. Fashola admitted him to a bail of N200,000, with a directive he should produce a witness, two sureties and a tax payment receipt.
