The state commissioner of police, Simeon Midenda, who disclosed this yesterday while addressing newsmen in Maiduguri said police investigations shows that the suspect supplied the explosive materials recovered from the vehicle of the lone suicide bomber who attempted to blow up the Borno State Police Command headquarters last Monday.

According to him, after a raid on a discreet shop operated by the suspect at Bama Road in Maiduguri, the police recovered 13 bottles of aluminium, one packet of face masks and a packet of hand gloves from the store. CP Midenda refused to disclose the name of the suspect who he said has been selling a particular aluminium powder which is the major chemical in the production of bombs. CP Midenda said record of sales of the supplier showed his first attempt to sell the dangerous aluminium powder was in May 2010 and he has been selling to a particular group.
