The police in Ogun State have arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly parading himself as a soldier.
It was learnt that the suspect, Jolly Gilbert, was arrested during the raid on criminal hideouts and black spots at Eyin Ogbe area of Ogijo in Sagamu LGA of the state.
The alleged fake soldier was reportedly arrested along with two others at the hideout wearing military camouflage shirt.
The Command’s Spokesman, Abimbola in a statement on Sunday said the suspect when interrogated, claimed to be a solder serving with 174 Battalion of Nigerian army.
According to Oyeyemi, a signal was sent to the Battalion to authenticate his claim, but it was revealed that the suspect “is a fake soldier.”
Items allegedly recovered from him were an identity card, a Jack knife, military hardware and assorted charms.
Oyeyemi added that the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to special Anti robbery squad (SARS) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
