Operatives of the Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested suspected gunrunners trying to procure AK-47 riffles for kidnapping purposes.
The police spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat, said in a statement on Friday in Yenagoa that the operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit of the command acted on a rip-off to bust the gang in a brothel in the state capital.
He identified the arrested suspects as Seibo Dokubo, a 32-year-old native of Degema Community in Rivers State and Boma Daniel, a 45-year-old native of Patani Local Government Area in Delta State.
He said: “One Brownie pistol loaded with eight .9mm ammunition, three 12.7mm expended ammunition, N2m and a suspected stolen Toyota Hilux 2021 model without registration number, were recovered from the suspects.
“The suspects are cooperating with police in its investigation and will be prosecuted at the conclusion of the investigation.”
