The police in Bauchi have arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of an 18-year old boy said to have been stabbed to death following a minor disagreement.
Abdussalam Danladi was reportedly stabbed on the neck at Doya Quarters in Bauchi metropolis by boys said to be aged 17 years and below.
He reportedly died few minutes later due to excessive loss of blood from the wound.
Bauchi State Police command spokesman, DSP Kamal Datti, said they were investigating the matter and would take the culprits to court after investigation.
“We have arrested three of the boys who attacked him as I am speaking to you now. We know that one of the boys, Abubakar Yakubu, was the one who killed him.
“The others involved are; Kamalu Muhammad and Sulaiman Muhammad and they are all below 18 years and they are in our hands,” he said.
A senior brother to the deceased, Jamilu Danladi said the deceased had a misunderstanding with the boys who killed him on Wednesday when they beamed a torchlight on his face and he asked them to stop which led to hot verbal exchange and one of the boys stabbed and wounded him.
He said his brother was called by one of the boys on phone to meet them somewhere not knowing that they had planned to kill him. Immediately he arrived the place they reportedly surrounded him and started beating him.
“One of them brought out a sharp knife and stabbed him on the neck and severed his jugular vein and windpipe,” he added.
According to him, the deceased held his neck and ran home, but he collapsed outside and his friend Muhammad removed his shirt and wrapped the deceased neck to stop the bleeding. We tried to take him to hospital but he died before we left,” he added.
