Police nab man over stolen motorcycle in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested one Haruna Abubakar, a 25-year-old male from Anku, Hadejia Local Government Area, Jigawa State.

He was apprehended at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Nguru gate while attempting to escape with a stolen Boxer motorcycle.

The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said the suspect was arrested following a series of reported motorcycle thefts, particularly at public gatherings and market areas within Nguru town.

He noted that the Nguru Divisional Police Headquarters has intensified surveillance and search operations to curb the menace. Consequently, the police immediately commenced intelligence-led stop-and-search operations around the medical facility and other strategic locations.

According to the PPRO, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect stole the motorcycle from the same park within the FMC premises where previous thefts had been recorded.

He added that the suspect is currently in police custody and has confessed to stealing several motorcycles, some of which he admitted were sold in Hadejia, Jigawa State.
