Police nab suspected kidnapper, rescue victim in Abuja

The newly established security outfit of the FCT police command, Operation G7, has arrested a suspected kidnappers’ informant and rescued one abducted victim.

Spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, on Thursday, said the arrest followed information to the new joint security outfit from a good Samaritan on the movement of some suspected kidnappers and their victims along Yebu ward of Kwali Area Council of the FCT.

She said the joint security team led by DCP Benneth C Igwe, and Deputy Commissioner of police in charge of operations at the command, arrested one Amadu Uro, a suspected kidnapper and a male resident of Kanzo village in Kuje Area Council.

She said the suspect, upon sighting the team, took to his heels but was arrested and found to be in possession of an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle.

“The suspect confessed to having been a member of a kidnapping syndicate where he spied and scouted for unsuspecting persons,” she said.

She said while trailing the criminal syndicate, the operatives rescued one kidnapped victim, Halilu Sani, a resident of Tungan Tofa village in the Kwali Area Council of the territory.

According to her, the victim, who sustained injuries in the hands of the kidnappers, was taken to hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
