Police nab suspected pickpocket over phone theft

A 43-year-old man, Johnson Akpomodaida, was yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja magistrate court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a phone belonging to one Peter Ayodele.

Akpomodaida was alleged to have committed the offence on November 6, 2019 at about 12.55pm at Olowu junction, Ikeja.

The police prosecutor, Inspector P. A. Adegoke, told the court that the accused person stole Ayodele’s  phone, valued at N55,000, and also assaulted him by slapping him.

Akpomodaida pleaded not guilty to the four- count criminal charge levelled against him.

Chief magistrate O. A. Akhokia admitted him to bail of N20,000, with a surety and a guarantor.

Akhokia adjourned the case till November 26, 2019 for further hearing.
