The police in Benue State have arrested three people suspected to have taken part in the bloody communal clash in Ondo and Ogobia communities of Otukpo Local Government Area of the state.

The crisis, which was allegedly caused by two fighting brothers penultimate Thursday, had led to the killings of a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State, Major Lawrence Ugbor (rtd) and five others including a retired police officer.

Benue Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Moses Joel Yamu, said the arrests were made based on a tip-off in continuation of the already “ember” months’ operation exercise.

According to Yamu, two of the arrested persons, Umoru Oche Emmanuel also known as Oche General and Ex-Cpl. Alfred John popularly called Bamiyi, both of Edikwu road in Otukpo were picked alongside one Okoro Precious.

Items recovered from them included 25 rounds of 9mm brand new live ammunition and some charms.

The PPRO added that the suspects have been associated with several cult-related killings, kidnappings, mischief by fire, and other sundry crimes. 

He said Emmanuel and John are the two most wanted habitual criminals from Otukpo Local Government Area of the state.
