The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects for alleged conspiracy, armed robbery, fraudulent SIM card swapping and bank account hacking.
The state Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu, disclosed this on Thursday in Ibadan, the state capital, while parading the suspects.
The suspects included those arrested for robbery along Moniya/Iseyin Road, possession of firearms and for cultism.
The police boss said the suspects arrested for SIM card swapping had cultivated the habit of randomly guessing people’s contacts and getting their personal data and details for the fraudulent act.
Speaking to journalists, one of the suspects, Fatai Temitope (21), who claimed to be a worker at a cyber cafe in Ijebu-Ode, explained that he was sent by his boss, one Oluwaseun Kareem, to get a fake affidavit and national identity cards with different names and pictures delivered to one Abiola Onasile, an agent of Airtel, who was also arrested.
