The FCT Police Command has paraded two suspected killers of a staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Abuja.

The suspects, Alfred Leonard (29), and Samson Agbo (37), were arrested by the police for allegedly conspiring to murder one Michael K. Iorkohol (47), a staff with the Internal Audit Department of the CBN.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, while parading the suspects along with 47 others, said the deceased was initially reported missing by his family on July 17, at the Karu Division.

However, following circumstances surrounding his disappearance, Ciroma said Leonard, who was last sighted with the deceased, was arrested in Kaduna after discreet investigation. “The suspect confessed during interrogation that he conspired with one Samson Agbo to murder the deceased whose corpse was recovered from the bush at Piyako Community.

“Items recovered from the scene included the deceased’s wristwatch, belt, pieces of his shirt and his palm sandals,” he said, adding that as soon as investigation was concluded, the suspects would be arraigned in court. While speaking with journalists, Leonard denied killing the deceased. He said he was treating the deceased of an undisclosed ailment for eight months.

“Mike (the deceased) was sick and I was treating him. His stomach was high (protruded). He told me he was in a secret society and he came to me telling me he wanted to die and asked me to kill him, but I refused to grant his wish. He told me he did not want his family to know that he was in a secret society. His wife knows me as I used to go to their house. He said the secret society wanted to take his two daughters.

“I didn’t kill him with my hands. When he was saying he wanted to die, he told my colleague (Agbo) to scratch his back that he would die if they saw blood because the hour they gave him in their secret society was close. We didn’t kill him to take any money from him. My friend was the one that scratched him,” he said.

On his part, Agbo also denied killing the deceased. He said his friend (Leonard) gave the deceased some medicine.
