The Police in Bayelsa State have arrested four suspected killers of a police officer attached to the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU).
The deceased officer was reportedly killed last month at Tombia community of Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, said the command’s clearance squad arrested one Funkeye John Timbofa, 24, who led the police to arrest other gang members. He revealed this yesterday during a press briefing in Yenagoa.
He said the suspect was arrested in connection with armed robbery and murder of Corporal Sammy Saturday of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) at Tombia roundabout.
Others arrested along with Timbofa are: Evans Kuro, 20, Taye Paul and Diepreye Ogbolafor, who the police said have all confessed to how the police officer was killed and that they were members of Greenland confraternity.
The police also paraded Junior Daumunabo and Ayibakepreye, the suspected killers of a 16-year-old undergraduate in Bayelsa, Miss Seiyefa Fred.
Mukan said most of the crimes committed were driven by cultism and abuse of illicit drugs.
He said all the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.
