The Nigeria Police Force has partnered two indigenous real estate companies: Ojim Royal Investment & Property Limited and  Puha Property Development Company for the construction of 40,000 housing units for officers and other interested persons across the country.

The first phase of the mass housing scheme which consists of 200 units of houses was set to commence in Enugu State.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police and Managing Director, NPF Property Development and Construction Company, Mr. Obe Rudolf,  told newsmen  in Abuja  that   the present regime’s social housing scheme is such that “we don’t want to create another set of barracks.”

He however explained that 70% of the housing would be reserved for the public which include other paramilitary officers with different price from the price the police would pay.

 “The price for the officers of the force would be different from that of the others as we want officers to be comfortable while carrying out their duties. Also, the 40,000 units would not be built within a particular time but would be done in phases. When a particular location is built like we are starting from Enugu other areas would commence and is going to continue within the next four years” he said.

Rudolf said the two companies that were partnering the police on the project had the technical and financial abilities to execute the job, adding that the NPF had interviewed the developers and was convinced of their individual capacities to deliver the project. 

 According to him various Police Commands in the states would provide land for the project in their respective states.  

Also speaking, the Managing Director, Ojim Royal, Mr Kingsley Okoronkwo, said the buildings are going to be affordable.  

He said, “It is a mass housing project and we are capturing 20 states, including the FCT. But right now we are starting with Enugu State where the land is already available. We are constructing 40,000 units across the country and they are going to consist of two and three bedroom flats.
