The Police Command in Oyo State said on Saturday that it has launched an investigation into alleged threat notes by suspected bandits targeting Ikoyi-Ile in the Orire Local Government Area.
Residents reportedly found two handwritten threat notes on Friday, which were dropped at the front and rear of a building in the community. According to information gathered by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the notes warned residents of an impending attack scheduled for Tuesday.
NAN reports that Ikoyi-Ile is among the Orire communities previously targeted by criminals. In the past attack, suspected bandits killed five forest guards of the Old Oyo National Park.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the incident.
She said, “The individual who discovered the note is undergoing debriefing.
‘’The command has launched a full-scale investigation to determine the origin and intent of the note.”
Olayinka thanked the residents for their cooperation and urged continued vigilance while investigations are ongoing. (NAN)
