The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, has ordered a discreet investigation into the death of three siblings suffocated in a parked car in Ilorin on Sunday.
Spokeswoman of the police command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), confirmed the development to Daily Trust on Tuesday.
She told our correspondent that while the family wanted to settle the matter internally, “the police commissioner has directed the SIB to go ahead with the discreet investigation in a bid to get to the root of the matter”.
Police operatives had visited the scene of the incident at No 8, Boluke Lane, Zango-Kulende quarters, Ilorin on Monday on a fact-finding mission.

However, it was learnt that they could not gain entrance into the building as the gate was under lock and key and nobody was around to welcome them.
The police operatives then proceeded to the family house of the late siblings’ mother, Silifat, at Ile Magaji, Taiwo Isale road, Ilorin, where she is recuperating after she fainted as a result of the tragic incident.
The mother was reportedly queried for not reporting the matter officially.
Meanwhile, the landlord of the residence where the siblings died has issued a notice to quit to their father, identified as Abdulkadir Jimoh, who has reportedly gone into hiding since the tragic incident occurred on Sunday afternoon.
Abdulkadir, a barbing salon operator at Oke-Andi, Zango-Kulende area, was said to have borrowed the ill-fated car where the three children died from her sister for the naming ceremony of his second wife’s newborn nine days ago.
