Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested 81 suspects, comprising males and females, and recovered suspected illicit drugs during a raid on identified criminal black spots in the state.
The suspects were reportedly arrested on July 24, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation targeting identified criminal flashpoints within the Asaba metropolis.
The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the suspects, comprising 50 males and 31 females, were arrested by the command’s tactical teams.
According to him, the suspects were apprehended over alleged sale and possession of suspected illicit drugs, as well as for allegedly operating an illegal checkpoint at the Asaba-Onitsha Head Bridge.

He listed the exhibits recovered during the operation ton include large quantities of tramadol and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
He added that during the operation, five vehicles were also impounded for various traffic violations.
He said the suspects and the exhibits remain in police custody while investigations continue.
He restated the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention.
The command, however, warned individuals involved in criminal activities to desist or face the full weight of the law.
