The Katsina State Police Command has re-arrested a 45-year-old man who was alleged to have raped a 16-year-old girl and subsequently jumped bail.

A statement by the command’s spokesman, DSP Gambo Isah, said the accused, Bishir Bala of Kofar Bai quarters, who was also the suspended Magatakardan Katsina had earlier jumped bail granted to him by the police.

“The suspect was alleged to have raped the girl, the daughter of one Tijjani Ya’u also of Kofar Bai quarters, on March 10, 2017 and later jumped police bail,” he said.

The suspect was alleged to have lured the victim under the pretext of giving her a message to deliver to her father but instead forcefully dragged her into his room and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her, he added.

“The sum of N2,000 he gave the victim was recovered by the police as exhibit in addition to other proofs of evidence,” it stated.
