The Kebbi State police command has recovered 30 guns and 650 ammunitions in the efforts to rid the state of criminality.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim M. Kabiru, said 13 AK47 rifles, six locally made double barrel rifles, eight locally made single barrel rifles, one pump action, one locally made pistol and one scrapped machine gun were recovered while other weapons recovered included 650 live ammunitions and 32 live cartridges.

He said men of his command discovered the weapons and ammunitions during the mopping up of illegal firearms in the state based on the directive of the Inspector General of Police.

The state command, a month ago, gave licensed gun owners in the state a 30-day ultimatum to return all guns in their possession or face arrest by the police.

The commissioner, while addressing journalists at the police headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, said that the command remained resolute in combating crime in the state.
