Police recover arms, fake currency, 25 vehicles in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has recovered fake foreign currencies, firearms, and 25 vehicles from criminal suspects between December 2025 and January 2026.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, disclosed this on Monday while addressing journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
He attributed the achievements to intelligence-led policing, targeted raids, sustained surveillance, and prompt tactical responses across the state.
Jimoh said several suspects were apprehended for various offences, including conspiracy, robbery, armed robbery, vehicle theft, assault, fraudulent conversion, smuggling, and threats to life.
“During the period, police recovered four locally fabricated guns, 13 cut-to-size pistols, nine live cartridges, one expended cartridge, fetish charms, and other dangerous weapons. Bundles of suspected fake United States dollars and Euros were also seized during the operations,” the commissioner stated.
Jimoh noted that a major breakthrough occurred in January with the arrest of 21 members of a “one-chance” kidnapping syndicate in the Idimu, Alimosho area.
“Exhibits recovered included Toyota Corolla and Camry vehicles, fetish charms, 21 bundles of suspected fake US dollars, and 12 bundles of suspected fake Euros,” he said. The police boss also disclosed the arrest of a suspect linked to a bomb threat targeting three schools in the Ikeja and Ogombo areas.
He noted that digital forensic investigations traced the threat to the suspect, adding that further investigations are currently ongoing.
Jimoh stated that several suspects are still assisting with investigations into armed robbery, “one-chance” operations, and interstate or cross-border vehicle-snatching networks.
He added that the police are currently verifying the ownership of recovered vehicles, tracing the sources of fake currencies, and tightening oversight of car-hire services exploited by criminals.
