The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested 105 suspects and recovered illicit drugs valued at over N82.7 million in its sustained crime-fighting operations across the state in September.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters, Bompai, Kano. He said the achievements followed the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for community-centered proactive crime prevention strategies ahead of the festive season.

According to him, the initiative, codenamed Operation Kukan Kura, has significantly reduced crime and enhanced community participation in security management.

“This Operation has yielded remarkable results in disrupting criminal networks and preventing potential threats. By engaging with the community, leveraging intelligence, and applying technology, the Command has been able to stay ahead of criminal elements,” the CP said.

Bakori said operatives of the Command recently intercepted Tramadol and Pregabalin tablets worth N82,725,000 at Rimin Auzinawa Quarters, Kano, which will be handed over to the NDLEA for investigation and prosecution.

He listed other items recovered in the month under review as including 3 AK-47 rifles, 3 English pistols, 3 revolver pistols, 1 locally made AK-47 rifle, 1 dane gun, and 2 locally made pistols; 7 live rounds and 5 empty shells; 2 motor vehicles, 2 tricycles, 13 motorcycles, 3 cows, and assorted stolen properties; swords, cutlasses, knives, axes, and sharp iron.
