The Police in Benue State have arrested four suspects in Otukpo Local Government Area and recovered a Mercedes-Benz ML350 SUV reportedly snatched at gunpoint in Owerri, Imo State.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Udeme Edet, who disclosed this in a statement issued in Makurdi, said the interception followed credible intelligence shared by the Imo State Police Command.

The statement indicated that police operatives in the Otukpo area of Benue State intercepted the black Mercedes-Benz ML350 4MATIC on October 24, 2025, while it was being conveyed to another destination.

Edet said four male suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, while items suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime were recovered.

She listed the recovered items to include two Android phones, three button phones, a power bank, criminal charms, and documents of another vehicle.

The PPRO added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Makurdi, for further investigation, as efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.

Edet further said that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ifeanyi Emenari, commended the officers for their vigilance and prompt response, while urging members of the public to continue providing credible information to aid the command’s fight against crime across the state.
