The Kano State Police Command has recovered four stolen vehicles, including a hospital ambulance, in a series of intelligence‑led operations carried out across Kano, Yobe, and Kaduna States.
Police spokesman in the state, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said in a statement on Saturday that the successes were recorded under the directive of Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
He explained that operatives of the Special Intervention Squad and Badawa Division coordinated the operations, which led to the recovery of the vehicles within one week.
Kiyawa said among the recoveries was a Kia Forte obtained through a fake bank alert in Damaturu, Yobe State.

He added, “The suspect, Suleiman Umar, 37, was arrested and confessed to the crime before the vehicle was returned to its owner. In Kano, a red Daihatsu Sirion stolen from Tarauni LGA was found abandoned in the same area, while a Hyundai Elantra stolen from an event centre in Kano was later recovered in Zaria, Kaduna State after the suspects fled.
“The most daring incident involved the theft of a Toyota ambulance belonging to EHA Special Hospital, Kano. Two attackers reportedly injured security guards with a knife before making away with the ambulance and other valuables,” he added.
The police spokesperson also said the vehicle was later recovered abandoned along Zaria Road and returned to the hospital management.
Kiyawa said the victims, including the hospital, commended the police for their swift response and professionalism.
He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, warning that Kano would not serve as a safe haven for car thieves and fraudsters.
He urged residents to provide timely information to aid ongoing investigations.
