The police in Bauchi State have recovered a newborn baby from a gang of hoodlums who stole him in Galawa area in Akuyam District in Misau LGA.
The command’s spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakil, in a statement, said, “On 25/7/23 at about 0700hrs, 55-year-old Adamu Baka of Galawa area, Akuyam District of Misau LGA reported at Akuyam outstation that some persons intruded into his daughter’s apartment who recently gave birth and stole her baby.
“On receipt of the report, a team of detectives were mobilised and earnestly swung into action and eventually arrested the hoodlums. The stolen baby was recovered from one Hajara Usman (19) in Ishehi hamlet, who conspired with one Ibrahim Usman of Dugurgama hamlet to steal the baby.”
Similarly, the command arrested four suspected thugs of the notorious Sara-Suka group, with Wakil saying, “On Sunday, 23/07/2023, while raiding a criminal hideout situated at Nasarawan Madina Quarters Bauchi, the detectives observed an unusual noise in a cave-like part of the area and immediately cordoned off the area and arrested six suspected thugs namely: Babawuro Mohammad, Nasiru Usman,Sadiq Musa, Hamza Ahmadu, Sadiq Tahir Ahmed and Umar Shayibu all of Madina Quarters and Dutsen Warinje areas of the Bauchi metropolis respectively.”

Wakil said that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were into armed robbery and thuggery, and that exhibits recovered from them included one knife and dry leaves suspected to be hemp.
