The Nasarawa State Police Command has recovered a stolen vehicle, foiled an attempt to steal another and arrested a suspect.
The spokesperson of the police in the state, ASP Ramhan Nansel, said on 23/1/2021 at about 08:10 pm, a complaint was lodged at Masaka Divisional Police headquarters that, a Toyota Camry car with Reg. No YAB 320 AE was stolen from where it was parked at Kuchikau area, Masaka, Karu LGA.
“Upon receipt of the report, a team of policemen was mobilised to the area in search of the stolen vehicle.
“Consequently, at about 09:30 of same date, the vehicle was traced to Jeun area in Masaka. The occupants on sighting the team of police personnel abandoned the car and escaped to an unknown destination,” he said.
According to him, the vehicle was recovered and taken to the police station and effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
ASP Ramhan Nansel said, on 25/1/2021 at about 08:30 on, while working on credible information, police personnel in New Karu Division arrested one Adamu Yusuf, a resident of Ungwan Osama, Masaka in Karu LGA, Nasarawa State.
He said the suspect was arrested under New Nyanya pedestrian bridge with a bunch of master keys when he allegedly opened a car and was about to steal it.
The police spokesperson said the suspect has confessed to the crime and investigation is ongoing after which he will be charged to court.
