The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, has debunked reports alleging that suspected armed herders invaded Dobi community in Gwagwalada Area Council of the territory.

CP Sanusi, who spoke to journalists at the command headquarters on Saturday, was reacting to a viral video circulated on social media claiming that suspected armed herders had invaded the community to launch attacks.

He said the command, upon noticing the viral videos and reports on social media, deployed operatives to the community and adjoining villages to assess the situation and ascertain the facts surrounding the matter.

According to him, the operatives discovered during the operation that there was no unusual gathering, suspicious movement or persons matching the claims contained in the reports at the time of investigation.

“And it is on this premise that the FCT Police Command under my leadership wishes to state categorically that there was no invasion of armed herdsmen into Dobi community or any adjoining villages,” he said.

He assured residents of the community and the entire FCT that the command was closely monitoring developments in the area, while investigations were ongoing to fully ascertain the facts surrounding the matter.

The police commissioner also urged residents of Dobi community and adjoining villages to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear.
