The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued 23 kidnapped victims from bandits in the Kajuru Forest, located in Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, on Sunday said the rescue operation took place on February 2, 2025.
He said the operation was triggered after security operatives received credible intelligence regarding the movement of armed bandits in the area.
Hassan said the operation, which involved the Divisional Police Officer of Kajuru Division and military personnel, led to a confrontation with the bandits near Doka Village in Kajuru Local Government Area.
According to him, the bandits were reportedly attempting to relocate their victims to the Kajuru Forest when they were intercepted by the security forces.
“During the encounter, the police and military inflicted heavy casualties on the bandits, forcing them to retreat and flee into the forest with gunshot wounds.
“As a result, the 23 kidnapped victims, who had been reported missing from Kauru Local Government Area, were rescued and reunited with their families,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, commended the bravery and professionalism of the security operatives involved in the operation.
He assured the public that the police command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents and will continue working in alignment with Governor Uba Sani’s security objectives.
