The police in Rivers State have rescued six victims, including four youth corps members from kidnappers and killed one suspected kidnapper and robbery kingpin in the state.
The victims were reportedly abducted in Rumuji, Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesman of the police in the state, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Sunday said the DPO of Rumuji Police Station, CSP Ademola Adebayo, in a sting operation stormed a forest at Evekwu in Emohua, where the six kidnap victims were rescued.
He said the victims, including four youth corpers were abducted last week in a commercial bus travelling from Lagos to Port Harcourt.
He said the victims were rescued unhurt and have been debriefed, adding that their families have been contacted for necessary hand over.
He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman A. Belel, has ordered increase in security on the East/West road to stem the tide of kidnapping and ensure arrest of perpetrators.
Omoni added that the men of Rumuji Police Station on Saturday killed an alleged notorious kidnapper and armed robbery kingpin, Zulu Ogwumike. He said the suspect was killed in a gun duel.
