Detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have rescued four kidnapped children and reunited them with their families in Lagos.
The rescue operation, which took place on May 8, 2026, was carried out by operatives attached to the command during a routine patrol around the Alafia Bus Terminal in the Coker-Orile area the state.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, in a statement issued on Sunday morning, stated that officers observed four children in the company of an unidentified woman who was about to board a luxury bus heading outside Lagos State.
She said the suspected trafficker fled the scene immediately after noticing the presence of the police patrol team, abandoning the children behind.

According to her, preliminary investigations revealed that the children had earlier been kidnapped from the Ijesha-Tedo area of Lagos and were allegedly being transported out of the state under the cover of darkness before the police intervention foiled the plan.
“The children were immediately taken into protective custody while efforts were made to trace their parents and relatives” she added.
Adebisi confirmed that all four children had been safely reunited with their families.
She said that investigations were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and uncover other individuals linked to the alleged kidnapping and trafficking operation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, commended the alertness and professionalism of the patrol officers involved in the operation.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state and urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant about the safety and whereabouts of their children.
He also advised residents to promptly report suspicious persons or activities involving children to the nearest police station or relevant security agency for immediate action.
