Police have rescued the abducted four staff of Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke.

The police commissioner in Osun state, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, who led the rescue operation, told Daily Trust in Osogbo that policemen are closing-in on the kidnappers to apprehend them, adding that the remaining four persons with the kidnappers would be soon be rescued.

On the insinuation that the kidnappers are Fulani people, CP Adeoye said it was wrong of anyone to say such since none of the kidnappers has been caught to ascertain their identities.

“How can anyone say that they are Fulani people? Has that person seen them face to face? We have not arrested any of them and we cannot say that they are Fulani people. We are close in on them.

“We are in the bush. We have rescued four of those kidnapped and we want to rescue the remaining four alive”, CP Adeoye said.

But the Chairman of Osun Committee on Peaceful Co-existence between Farmers and Fulani/Bororo, Mr Mudashiru Toogun confirmed that the kidnappers are Fulani/Bororo people.

He denied that the kidnappers have made contact to demand for ransom for the release of those kidnapped and expressed that policemen on the trail of the kidnappers would apprehend them.

It will be recalled that the college staff were kidnapped last Tuesday evening just as one of them was killed by the kidnappers while one of the policemen trying to rescue them was shot too.

A staff of the college said those kidnapped are Mr Olaleye Olalekan (Bus. Admin. Department); Adeyeoluwa Bankole (HOD Civil Engineering); Dr Jesuola Ajibola (Director Ventures); Adenreti Chukwu (Secretary to Civil Engineering Department); Olaniyi Emmanuel Temitope (Registry staff member) and Rachael Onyinocha Akinboboye, (OSCOTECH Microfinance Bank)”.

The CP said his men are on the trail of the kidnappers and that the whole area had been condoned off so that the kidnappers would not escape.

CP Adeoye confirmed the death of one of the College staff and that four others are in captive. He also confirmed that one of his policemen that was shot by the kidnappers but has been taken to hospital for treatment.
