The police in Edo State have rescued a kidnapped pastor, Precious O. Oyioku, and recovered an AK-47 rifle and other arms from his kidnappers after a gun battle.

The state’s police spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the Urhonigbe Police Division received information that a pastor was kidnapped along the railway track at the border between Edo and Delta states.

He said the police mobilised to the forest and embarked on bush combing and that in the process, the hoodlums opened fire on the police, to which the police replied, hence that they abandoned their victim and escaped.
