Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have rescued a three-year-old kidnapped girl and arrested one Kelvin Ogaga, in connection with the abduction in the state.
The suspect was arrested on May 18, 2026, in Ugehelli following a complaint from the victim’s father that his daughter had been abducted by a commercial motorcyclist entrusted with her daily school runs.
The Command’s spokespersons, Bright Edafe, said the toddler was rescued by the Anti-Vice Squad (CAVS), Sector 2, of the Ughelli, Police Division.
He said the suspect allegedly kidnapped the child while taking her to school and subsequently demanded ransom of N500,00 from the family.

According to him, after negotiations, the family paid the demanded ransom to secure the release of the child.
He said the operatives, acting on technical intelligence, stormed the suspect’s hideout in Ughelli, where he was arrested and N127,000 suspected to be part of the ransom recovered from him.
Edafe further stated that other valuables allegedly purchased with proceeds of the crime, as well as the motorcycle used in the operation, were also recovered.
He said the suspect is in custody, with investigation ongoing, after which he would be charged to court.
