Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have rescued a kidnapped victim, identified as Monday Adero (58), and arrested a suspect, Gehi Ibrahim, in Okpella, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
Adero, who was kidnapped on his way to his farm on January 22, was rescued by a team of vigilantes and hunters working in collaboration with the police.
The command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said that during the rescue operation in the forest at the Uluoke axis, the kidnappers engaged the rescue team in a gun duel.
She stated that the kidnappers fled with gunshot injuries, while the victim was safely rescued and taken to a medical facility for treatment.
According to her, acting on intelligence and medical tracking, one of the injured suspects, identified as Gehi Ibrahim, was subsequently traced and arrested.
She added that the suspect is currently in custody and will be prosecuted accordingly.
