The Police in Benue State have rescued a victim, Michael Okonkwo, from the den of kidnappers at the Kastina-Ala Local Government Area of the state.

Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), for the Benue Command, Moses Joel Yamu, said yesterday that the rescued Igbo business man regained his freedom through the police intervention after spending 13-days in his captors detention.

Yamu explained that the victim was abducted by some armed men who accosted him at Haaga village in Kastina-Ala area while on his way to purchase Madrid wood for his business purposes.

He said Okonkwo was successfully rescued at 3:00am on Monday after policemen engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun battle, adding that some of the suspects escaped with bullet wounds.

The police spokesman said the command was yet to make any arrest in connection with the kidnap but trailing the escapees as he urged members of the public to provide useful information that could lead to their arrest.
