The Katsina State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued an 18-year-old girl following a late-night operation in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

The command said the incident occurred at about 11.53pm on Tuesday when suspected bandits invaded Kukoki Quarters in Danmusa town and abducted the victim, identified as Aisha Kabir.

In a statement, the police said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Danmusa swiftly mobilised an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) tactical patrol team following a distress call.

The operatives reportedly trailed the suspects and engaged them in a gun duel, forcing the attackers to flee into nearby bushes with gunshot injuries while abandoning the victim.

According to the police, the rescued teenager was immediately taken to a hospital for medical evaluation and has since been reunited with her family.

The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Ali Umar Fage, commended the officers involved in the operation for their prompt response and professionalism.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support security operations.

The police added that efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
