Rivers State police command said thursday in Port Harcourt that the redeploymeny of state police commissioner, Joseph Mbu, is still rumor as it is yet to be formally told.
A letter coming from the police Service Commission and authorized by its Chairman, Mike Okiro, had earlier announced that the Cop has been redeployed to the Federal Capital Territory and replaced with Johnson Ogunsakin, who before now is the Commissioner of police in charge of the special fraud investigative unit in Lagos.
But the Command’s public relation officer, Ahmad Muhammed, said the Command is yet to be communicated the redeployment of the Police Commissioner.
“We have channels of communication in police operations. As am talking with you now we are yet to be communicated with about any redeployment. All this things are rumor for now. The Inspector General of Police has not communicated to us that the State Police Commissioner has been redeployed” he said.
The tenure of Joseph Mbu as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State was full of troubles. He was locked in a fierce battle with Governor Amaechi who accused him of being partisan in the discharge of his responsibility. He was accused of hobnubbing with Supervising Minister of Education , Nyesom Wike, who has been at war with Amaechi over the control of the soul of Rivers politics.
