He arrived the venue of his campaign rally, the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, in Jos, Plateau state capital at 12.30 pm.

“What is happening in the Northeast and the rest of the country is unacceptable. More than 60% of Nigerian youths are unemployed whether they have gone to school or not. How can you tackle that? How can you provide jobs? What we can do is to turn to agriculture and mining and if we successfully stop corruption, the money we realize can be invested in serious social services to our land,” Buhari said.

He added: “Schools don’t turn up competent students; the infrastructure is gone; no equipment and teachers are not paid regularly. We know that the best we can do for any generation is to give them the best education. When they are educated, then they can look after themselves.”

At this juncture, when he began to speak in Hausa vernacular, a tear-gas was thrown into the cheering crowd.

The situation forced Buhari to stop abruptly while he handed over the microphone to the National Women Leader of the party Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani who was nearby while he was whisked away from the stadium by escorts.

Also, a former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Pauline Tallen who recently decamped from Labour Party to the PDP was received by the APC national chairman, John Oyegun. The other PDP members who also decamped into APC include former director general of Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and governorship aspirant of the PDP, Professor Longman Wapmut and Leo Dilkon, former PDP member of the House of Representatives for Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam.
