Police tell court how man raped teen girl inside Ojo Barracks

A police prosecutor on Friday opened a case of rape at an Ogba chief magistrate court against a 28-year-old man, Yunus Musbau, who was allegedly caught making love to a 12-year-old girl in a bush inside the Nigerian Army Cantonment, Ojo, Lagos.

Musbau was arraigned in court on a two-count charge of rape and sexual assault. If found guilty, the accused might be jailed for 12 years.

The prosecutor, Christopher John, said that Musbau, whose residence he couldn’t confirm, was allegedly caught in the act by some military policemen who were on patrol.

John alleged that the accused lured the teenager into one of the camps inside the cantonment and forcefully had sex with her.

“The accused is an animal because he took advantage of the innocent little girl and lured her into a secluded area where he had sex with her against her consent,” he added.

The presiding magistrate, Mr Peter Nwaka, denied Musbau bail and did not take his plea.

The court ordered that he should  be remanded in prison custody, while a duplicate copy of the case file be sent to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
