Police to exhume corpses in the five graves found in Badoo shrine

Tension has continued to mount around Agbowa area of Ikorodu after detectives led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Lagos Command, Edga Imohimi, raided a deadly shrine belonging to a notorious cult gang, Badoo.

During the raid, five persons including a traditional ruler were arrested in connection with operation around the shine.

The shrine located inside the bush in the area, according to the Police, is sited in a large compound.

A police source said that the place is only accessible through a foot part from the front but surrounded by swamp.

Right now, some residents around the area where the shine was discovered are beginning to move out while a few others now stay behind closed doors as, according to them, they no longer know what will happen next.

A resident, Tola Shakiru, said that people went to bed quite early now after security operatives left the community.

He said: “All the houses in the area are isolated, so people are now making conscious efforts to protect themselves more than before. Personally, I was shocked by the discovery of the shrine. I never knew that things like ritual killing takes place in that area. I thought it was just a traditional place for worship.”

Meanwhile, authority in charge of the Lagos State Police Command has concluded plans on how to exhume the corpses in the five graves found in a deadly shrine located in the thick forest. Also sighted were baskets, broken eggs and other fetish items.

The move is to ascertained the identities of those allegedly buried in the grave and when they were buried.

Eko Trust reliably learnt that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni had already informed pathologists at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and they are expected to conduct autopsy on the bodies when they are exhumed.

The Chairman, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LSNSA), Israel Ajao, a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG rtd) said that the agency actually provided the police with a preliminary information that led to the discovery.

 He noted that the shrine belonged to one Alhaji Alaka Aboyomi. He said the dealer of ALAKA petrol station along Epe Road in Ikorodu, led the police team into the shrine located on a large expanse of land that is surrounded by thick bush. 

He said: “Four graves were found in the compound while another one that looked fresh was spotted at a corner in the compound.  I wish that the members of the public will furnish the agency necessary information that could assist the security agencies to be effective in their operations.”        

Meanwhile, detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested the Baale of Ipakodo, Alhaji Tijani Awoyemi as well as three others for their alleged involvement in the gruesome murder of four family members on last Sunday at Ibeshe area of Ikorodu.

Those arrested along with the traditional ruler were Junior Christian, Owoyemi Bamidele and Alhaji Alaka Abayomi.

The deceased were found dead in their house located in an isolated area in Ibeshe by some neighbours on Sunday morning.

It was gathered that the assailants allegedly entered the apartment by cutting their way through the window.

Also, the command has uncovered another deadly shrine in the area believed to be the domain of the dreaded badoo cult group after it had a high powered security meeting with the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Imota Division.

The operation which was carried out in the early hours on Monday, was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Imohinmi Edgal.

Baale of Ipakodo, Alhaji Tijani Awoyemi was arrested for allowing his domain to be used as a den for ritual while Alhaji Alaka was alleged to be the owner of the shrine.

A policeman who partake in the arrest said:, “We have arrested the owner of the shrines located in the thick forest of Agboowa, Ikorodu. “We have also arrested three others, including the operator of the shrines. They are the major suspects in yesterday’s incident. 

“The Obas in Ikorodu area should know that their exalted office has privileges and responsibilities. They have subjects within their domain. They should compel their subjects to give them information about new people moving into their area. The activities of badoo boys are internal crime. No one would come from outside to wreak havoc in Ikorodu because the area has been cordoned off by the police.”
