The Bayelsa State Police Command has formed a special squad to impound vehicles with unauthorized sirens, amber lights; non-factory fitted tinted glasses, and covered number plates.

The command’s action may be connected with the resurgence of crime in the state using such vehicles.

The police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, said in a statement yesterday that intelligence reports at the disposal of the command revealed that such vehicles are being used for heinous crimes in the state.

He said the squad, which will commence operation on Monday, July 4, has a clear mandate to arrest and impound vehicles with unauthorized sirens, amber lights, covered plate numbers, and non-factory-fitted tinted glasses.
