The acting Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Kpotum Idris has said that the police authorities would investigate the shooting that led to the death of three workers at the entrance to Nassarawa State government house last week.
He stated this, Friday, when the Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC) President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba led a delegation of the congress to the police headquarters over the issue.
Idris said that the police by training is meant to serve and protect the citizenry and can only resort to the use of fire arms in self defence.
Wabba had earlier informed the acting IG that contrary to claims that those shot by the police stationed at the vicinity of the Nassarawa State government house were miscreants, they were workers whose the congress has their verification and identity cards to show as evidence.
He sought the acting IG`s intervention to thoroughly investigate the incidence with a view of fishing out the culprits and dispensing justice accordingly.
