The Kano State Police Command has said it will invite social media influencers in the state that are using a popular man diagnosed with psychiatric disorder, A. A. Rufai, to produce comic skits and get followers.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Muhammed Usaini Gumel, disclosed this following a complaint filed by A. A. Rufai’s lawyer, Barrister Badamasi Ibrahim, and his relatives.

Rufai, popularly known as Biligate, has become the subject of online media in recent days as he is featured in several videos mentioning huge amounts of money, addressing himself as the Biligate of Nigeria.

In some of his videos, Biligate says he has purchased the whole country, some international football clubs, and that most of the rich people in the country are his boys.

However, following a series of complaints raised by his family and lawyer, the police said the influencers would be invited and that anybody using him would face the wrath of the law.

Spokesman of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, after receiving AA Rufai, his lawyer and relatives, said the action was adding to his psychiatric illness, thereby making things difficult for him.

He said, “The CP has received complaints on some people using this man to produce comedy skits. This is adding to his illness. We will ensure that we prevent this. A. A. Rufai has all the privileges to enjoy his freedom of living just like every other person.”

Earlier, one of his relatives, Jamilu Abdallah, said A. A. Rufai was battling with psychiatric problems since childhood and that they were working hard for his recovery.

He further said, “But people using him for comedy are adding to the illness. He is even doing things that he had never done before.”
