Police to partner NUJ against fake journalists

The Delta State Police Command has assured of its readiness to partner the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to rid the state of fake journalists.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeyinka Adeleke, made the pledge yesterday when the State’s Working Committee of the Delta NUJ led by its Chairman, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu,  visited him at the command headquarters in Asaba.

The visit, one of the council’s familiarisation visits to heads of security agencies in the state, was to seek symbiotic working relationship and synergy in the line of duties. CP Adeleke spoke on the backdrop of Ikeogwu’s call on the police to join forces with the NUJ on the menace of quacks.

He maintained that his men are ever ready to respond to calls from the NUJ to arrest and prosecute impostors. He promised to continue to address the issues of misconduct, professional and public abuse among his men.

Comrade Ikeogwu had used the opportunity to clear the air on the rumour that the leadership of NUJ in Delta State was having problems with the CP, adding there was no iota of truth in that rumour.
