The management of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) says it has concluded arrangements to acquire lands for officers, their spouses and retirees of the Nigeria Police Force for agricultural purposes.
This, it said, was in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu on food security, poverty eradication, economic growth, job creation, access to capital, improving security of life and property.
Daily Trust reports that the agency’s plan for police officers came on the heels of skyrocketing prices of foods in the country amid stagnant revenue of the officers and their spouses.
Executive Secretary of the Fund, Mr Mohammed Sheidu, disclosed this to journalists in Abuja shortly after his agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority.
The NPTF boss also said the agency had outlined strategies that focus on the securing the facilities of NALDA’s Mega Farm Estate and the joint execution of agricultural projects.
He said, “The Nigeria Police Trust Fund’s collaboration with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority on the security facilities of NALDA Mega Farm Estate and Joint Agricultural Project Execution will enable NPTF acquire land for agricultural purposes for police officers, spouses, youths and retirees of the NPF and auxiliary staff.”
Sheidu noted that the two agencies would leave no stone unturned in working together to address what he described as “the complex challenges facing our nation”.
He added, “We recognize that security and agriculture are intertwined, and that our collective efforts can have a transformative impact on the lives of Nigerians.
“This landmark agreement marks a significant milestone in our collaborative efforts to enhance security and promote agricultural development in our great nation.
“As we sign this agreement, we reaffirm our commitment to working together to address the complex challenges facing our nation. “We will work tirelessly to ensure the successful implementation of this MoU”.
