The Plateau State Police Command has alerted the public to the emergence of a criminal cartel operating in Kworos, Gangare in Jos North LGA and communities in Barkin Ladi LGA.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, said that members of the cartel, disguised as police operatives, targeted motorcycles, particularly commercial ones, and stole them.
He said, “The criminals intercept motorcyclists, pretending to be police officers, and request that they hand over their bikes to ‘rush to the station’ for a supposed task. Once in possession of the motorcycles, they abscond and never return them.
“The Commissioner of Police (CP), Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, urges the public to be cautious and avoid falling victim to these criminals. He assures that measures are in place to dismantle the cartel.
