Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 21 rounds of ammunition during the search for a kidnapped traditional ruler and other victims in the state.
It would be recalled that the traditional ruler of Udo-Eguare, HRH Friday Ehizojie Onojie, in Igueben LGA of the state was kidnapped last Sunday evening at a forest between Ubiaja, by the Rest House junction and Udo community while on a commercial motorcycle.
The okada rider hired by the traditional ruler was shot dead.
It was gathered that the arms and ammunition were recovered at Okhuesan forest along Okhuesan-Ewohimi road in Esan South East LGA.
The spokesman of the command, CSP Moses Yamu, said the operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle loaded with 22 rounds of live ammunition.
He said on January 3, after the rescue of three kidnapped victims, operatives continued the manhunt for the kidnap suspects, leading to the recovery of the AK-47 rifle.
