Three days to the scheduled re-run governorship election in Kano state, the state’s police command has warned politicians and the prospective voters in the areas billed for the exercise to desist from buying and selling of voters’ cards, emphasizing that the command would not hesitate in dealing ruthlessly with anybody caught flaunting the national electoral act.

Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna who gave the warning in a statement enjoined the people of the state “to legally understand that buying and selling of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) is an offence punishable under the Electoral Act.”

He said any person found to be engaged in the act should be promptly reported to the nearest police station for further action.

Meanwhile, the command has arrested one Emeka Stanley over alleged dealing and distribution of hard drugs within the state metropolis.

The suspect was arrested last Tuesday at Sabon-Gari market.

Police spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna who confirmed the arrest said 14 cartons of rubber solution were recovered from the suspect.

Stanley, indigene of Anambra state, resides at No. 26 Warri Road Sabon-Gari Kano.

Haruna states the suspect had confessed to the crime admitting that he supplied the substance for distribution in Katsina state and Niger Republic.

He said investigation had commenced and the suspect would be charged to court very soon.
