The Ekiti State Police Command has warned against the use of unauthorized number plates, siren and tinted glasses in the state.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Akinwale Adeniran, through a statement by the command’s spokesman, DSP Sunday Abutu, said anyone found wanting or defaulting the order would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Mr Adeniran called on residents to desist from the acts, saying intelligence revealed that criminal elements hid under the illegalities to perpetrate crime.

The statement reads in part: “Many vehicle owners have formed the habit of covering their number plates for no just cause.

“Ekiti State Police Command has observed with dismay and great concern the way and manner some vehicle owners and drivers alike engage in illegal use of official number plates, while some persons drive vehicles without number plates or wrong number plates, not forgetting those who use vehicles with artificial tints and unauthorised sirens/revolving lights.

“The command has taken the bull by the horns to warn those involved to desist from such acts or be made to face the full wrath of the law without exemption.”
