The Kwara State Police Command has arrested one of its officers for sexual assault in Ilorin.

It was gathered that the policeman allegedly committed the offence last Sunday evening near the popular Princess Luxury Hotel located at the Pipeline area of the state capital.

 Policemen are usually on stop-and-search operation in the area both night and day.

 The victim of the assault, a young lady in her late 20s, who it was understood to have been stopped for a security check, obeyed an instruction from the policemen by parking beside the road. The lady, who accused the policemen of intimidation while she was being interrogated, said that one of the policemen fondled her breasts during her encounter with the security men.

 It was gathered that the victim of the sexual assault posted her experience on her Facebook wall on Monday, where it attracted various reactions from friends and relations.

Speaking on the development, the state police public relations officer, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the report, saying that the police officer had been identified and arrested.

Okesanmi, who said that the victim of the assault had been invited for details of the matter, added that investigation had commenced on the allegations.
